September has begun, and autumn is a-comin!
The start of September is a bittersweet time––we mourn the end of August, while looking hopefully to the lovely seasons ahead. The wind is blowing a little colder, the trees will eventually start to shift into gold and mahogany.
Did you spend your summer well? Did you sit around waiting for it to begin?
Now, shall you sit around regretting all of the things you did––or didn't do, until it's summer all over again?
As September gently sweeps us into cold and windy fall days, it is a wonderful time to take to the teapot and start downing hot tea. Here are the monthly picks:
Earl Grey is a black tea blend flavoured with oil of bergamot. The taste is citrusy, floral, and slightly bitter. Prepare with a little milk and sweetener, or drink plain.
Irish Breakfast Tea is a blend of Assam and other black teas. The flavour is rich and malty, and it can be enjoyed plain or with milk and sweetener. It's high in caffiene and nice to have in the morning.
September 22nd, in the northern hemisphere, and as for the southern hemisphere, March 20th.
The autumnal equinox is what marks the start of autumn. This astronomical event occurs precisely when the Sun's center crosses the celestial equator line, the extension of Earth’s equator into space.
During the equinox, day and night are about equal in length, and this is why the term "Equinox" is derived from the latin words, "aequus", equal, and nox, “night”.
